The Desert Bighorn Sheep Relocation Project documents one of Texas Parks and Wildlife's most significant wildlife conservation efforts, relocating a disease-free herd of desert bighorn sheep to Franklin Mountains State Park in West Texas. The project plays an important role in restoring the species to its historic range while helping protect healthy populations from disease introduced by invasive aoudad sheep.
Throughout production, I worked alongside Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists across West Texas to document every stage of the capture and relocation process. From helicopter operations to wildlife handling and release, the project offered a behind-the-scenes look at the planning, collaboration, and precision required to carry out a large-scale conservation effort.
Filming in the remote deserts of West Texas required adaptability, long days in the field, and a documentary approach that allowed authentic moments to unfold without disrupting the relocation effort.
